Do you want to build your own homemade cnc machine ? Your in the right place
What Are You Going To Use For - SOFTWARE - With Your New CNC ?
If you are on this site because you have built your own CNC router or plasma table or are in the process of doing so. This would be a good time to look at what type of software tools you will be employing to run your beautiful machine.Your about to see that it may get a little frustrating when you find out the software may probably be one of the most costly parts of the build. If your like me then you may turn to one of the open source solutions offered out there Maybe the free cnc toolkit with the gmax editor, I did for about 100 hrs of learning curve, only to find out that the beautiful piece of old growth red wood I placed under the router would soon end up in the burn pile, because I forgot to import one of the many settings required for this particular cut. I was so smart that I had constructed a machine that was even smarter than me and this was kinda humbling, to me anyway. There was still hope other people didn't know my machine was smarter than me. Whatever I did I just wanted to be confident that what was on my computer screen ended up the same on my table with that very expensive slab of redwood under the bit. If your just wanting to cut some easy 2d or even 2 and 1/2d signage or lettering you may be alright with some of the lower cost softwares out there, I highly recomend Some of the Vectric software solutions they have for that type of cutting. I use a couple of those programs. BUT the investment made in those softwares totals about $1,500.00 and they are still limited to basic functions and I don't want to remain basic, if I did, why would I build such a smart machine and not use it to it's full potential? My latest builds Include a 4th axis rotary upgrade to my 4x8 machine shown in the video above to evolve into filling the requests I keep getting from my customers, who are interested in a lot of 3d sculptures and more intricate cutting projects. Also I will keep everyone posted on the progress of my new monster build 5 axis 10x10x3' CNC machine for skulpting very large projects. For this build I will use after considering all of my software options the latest in 2,3,4 and 5 axis cutting with confidense BOBCAD Software with out a doubt. I put a link to there free trials below just give them a try, I think you will find them to be the best answer for you to stay ahead of the cutting curve.

FIVE AXIS BUILD IS UNDERWAY
A good start . Someone said, can you build me a machine that will cut big molds so I can make a prototype concept car from carbon fiber? My answer was, yes when - how about right now! He said OK This picture is one of the 2 horizontal rails that I have completed so far using - 1/8 steele C channel rails top and bottom with Vgroove bearings - 9 per side 18 total to roll that big X Keep checking back to see the progress.
